My clients “found” $18k
In recent conversations with two early-stage bookkeeping clients, they collectively "found" $18,000.
Yes, you read that right: $18k.
One client had changed banks but didn't redirect one of her Stripe accounts, so several months' worth of installment payments from her clients had been going to a bank account that she didn't realize still existed. She had been living off of pay-in-full client funds only--and wondering why her budget felt kinda tight.
The other didn't realize that the default for her credit card processor was to only transfer funds with a manual trigger, so the funds had just been collecting (and making interest for the cc company!) until she logged in to get the report that I needed.
As a bookkeeper, I reconcile all bank accounts AND merchant service accounts monthly, along with whatever else you have going on. As a business owner, that's tedious--I get it.
Luckily for these clients, it's literally my job to make sure all of your pennies (or, you know, $thousands) are counted. Helping clients find money is a pretty great way to start our relationship! 🥳
